Q: What is the ISST?
A: The Islamic Studies Standardized Tests is a criterion referenced instrument designed to provide schools with data on a student’s ability to master concepts within four major Islamic studies subjects.
Q: What are the National Islamic Studies Standards?
A: The National Islamic Studies Standards (NISS) provide clear curricula goals for teachers, students, and parents. A national committee comprised of Islamic scholars, professors, and certified teachers and principals (working in the Islamic school system) have teamed up to help teachers determine what is important and appropriate for children to know at each grade level.
Q: What is the benefit of a standardized test?
A: A standardized assessment can provide invaluable data on student achievement, instructional methods, and resources. Moreover, the ISST can help with the transferability of students - ensuring students remain successful from one school to the next.
